This bag contains 8 ounces (1/2 lb) of Bucha Brewers' most commonly used black tea blend. The black tea in the blend is rated Flowery Orange Pekoe, which indicates tender whole leaves rolled with antioxidant-loaded leaf tips. This black tea blend is very high-quality, hearty, and full-flavored. Each 8 ounce bag brews about 25 individual gallons of black tea, meaning you will be set up for months of regular kombucha brewing with this bag of tea. We recommend using between 3 Tablespoons and 1/4 cup of tea leaves per gallon of tea brewed. Our cotton tea bags work perfectly for brewing this loose leaf tea by the gallon. Black tea is higher in caffeine and tannins than green or white tea, and these are essential for feeding your kombucha SCOBY! Thus, black tea is generally considered to be best for kombucha brewing and growing healthy SCOBYs with your brew.
