If you had three wishes and a vintage bar cart, this would be on it. This 1956 Smirnoff vodka bottle is shaped like a classic genie bottle — the elongated teardrop form with a long slender neck that has been synonymous with magic and mystery since the tales of the Arabian Nights. In deep, rich glass with a wonderfully exotic silhouette, it is one of the most distinctive shapes Smirnoff ever produced.
No stopper — but then, a genie bottle doesn't really need one. It displays beautifully on its own, the shape speaking entirely for itself. Originally sold with Smirnoff Vodka, now empty. A genuine piece of mid-century spirits packaging history from one of the world's oldest and most storied vodka brands.
A fun and unexpected gift for the dad with a sense of humor, a love of the exotic, or simply an eye for the unusual on a bar shelf.
Smirnoff's story begins in 1818 when Pierre Smirnoff started producing vodka in Russia. After the Bolshevik Revolution the family fled, eventually selling the American rights to Rudolph Kunett, who established Ste. Pierre Smirnoff in New York in 1934 — one of the first vodka brands sold commercially in the United States. By the 1950s Smirnoff had become America's best-selling vodka, and promotional bottles like this genie shape were part of the brand's early push to make vodka glamorous and aspirational.
