"In the best case... a smile – a reading meditation on beautiful words" is not a book in the conventional sense – i.e., with a plot, storyline, a specific genre, and the like – but rather a conceptual book that offers readers a different kind of reading journey. It could very well be the most personal one they have ever had in a book, and it's not immediately apparent. Until you get into the book, that is.This work contains only words, primarily nouns. This decision was made because nouns are, by definition, substantial. Nouns are also essential. For this reason, they have an existential effect. The book can be meandered through aimlessly or the words can be absorbed one by one after a conscious effort has been made to sit down and read. No matter how you go about it, sooner or later you will come across a word that hides something else or holds a meaning you might not expect at first. The positive nature of the more than 1,300 words that were chosen is the reason for their inclusion. This is subjective, as everyone can associate certain words with negative connotations. The goal is for these words to either bring a smile to the reader's face or be met with a basic sense of gratitude for their existence and meaning. The way you experience the resonance is less important. It could be continuous or selective. The intention is to invite you to set aside your conventional ideas about reading and engage with the book—and with yourself—by experimenting with it. This is an attempt to create a new kind of meditation. This is particularly relevant for individuals who are new to meditation. Practicing one or the other form of contemplation will lead even those who do so to new inner experiences and a wealth of inspiration, as the book will prove. This, in turn, takes us back to literature, which has long accomplished this in its own manner, even without the traditional cross-legged sitting posture or singing bowls. Read more
